Copper spray does nothing for a head gasket. If the gasket itself doesn't seal a little spray is not going to make it seal.

This had an MLS HG, but today we are going to try the Mitsu fiber gasket - and I might as well try it without copper spray and see if it seals.

Personal experience. I did it because I read about the big dogs doing it but missed the part where these guys were doing it to MLS. I remember spraying it and it just didn't seem correct, like some of it absorbed into the gasket - which...

Do NOT use copper spray on a composite head gasket.

      Why on earth not?

There has to be a huge reason for all this bs. My turbo drain is leaking by the oil pan so I was going to remove the new oil and put a new gasket on the drain. The muthrfucn drain bolt on the oil pan is fucn welded on this pos.I have to do a...

In progress - not in a hurry.I have had for a while, 2 black PC’d intake manifolds, but the prep work wasn’t great before the PC, like 15 years ago. This one does not have an MDP bolted on it.

Did you the pursue the cyclone manifold? I see you have your IM done in black which may have been in the works before talking about it last time.edit: "While you're at it", you should pull that alternator out and put in a Saturn unit.

Where did you find this pan with non-metric threads? What car was it for?

The threads for the oil drain were not oem 6x100 thread. They were like a standard size. I don't have any standard bolts around me, just loads of metric.

I gave the vehicle some time and picked up some valvoline 20w-50 oil. On the last update, I used 5w30 to check for leak. It's all I had at the moment and didn't plan on running with it.I read from an older post not to use thinner oil cause I'll...

uhh, what does this mean: "The threads were not the same as oem so I had to tap them out."The holes in the pan were not the same location? or you tapped new threads in the ??? The only threads in a pan would be for the turbo drain.

Not much of an update. Worked on getting the fender and plastics all setup perfectly. With 32 yr old plastic that has been warped over time, it wasn't fun. Having new clips in all the proper places made it difficult to line everything up the...

Jacked the car up and promptly got distracted.First up was this.Just a quick blip of the throttle. No transmission noise, yay! There's still some gremlins, but eh. One step at a time. After I got it jacked up, I got sick of the...

Off to B&M performance to get fixed up. They will go through the longblock etc. Not sure if I will have them get it 100% installed or just R&R the engine etc and I'll take it from there.TBD, but they will at least get the longblock dialed in...

That has probably happened to most of us. Maybe not to the extent of 5 years, but something that should have taken 2 weekends has now taken 2 years and we're left wondering if the gas is any good.
