This DIY coolant overflow is for those of us with 2g's who have purchased the XSPOWER Front Mount Intercooler kit, or SBR, or similar short route piping
You will notice that the short route piping has interfered with the stock coolant overflow tank. You will no longer need to relocate the stocker, nor use a pop bottle style overflow tank.
We will be using the stock overflow tank!
Materials:
Stock overflow tank
Hot glue gun OR, Preferably, plastic welder
Hi temp paint
First, choose a point where the bottle is symmetric for at least 3-4", and make two cuts. Heres a diagram i drew to kinda give you an idea.
If you have access to a plastic welder, i would highly recommend that to make for the cleanest "welds"
If you do not have access, use a heavy duty hot glue gun. Lay down one layer of hot glue on the top of the bottom piece's cut, and stick the top of the overflow ontop of it. Let it dry, then go around the edge and lay a bead.
Sand it down if you want, and use a hi temp spray paint (inside and out). This will help with keeping the hot glue sealed (it wont get malleable if hot coolant comes into the overflow tank)
A good thing to do if using a hot glue gun would be to wrap the seam in radiator hose tape (black) or similar hi temp tape. This is just extra precaution, in case it gets very hot and melts the hot glue or welds (highly unlikely, but insurance against leaks nonetheless)
The tank will fit back onto the stock mount, but it may not go down onto it 100%. Electrical tape, or Hi temp radiator hose tape again, should solve this, and is unviewable to the normal eye.
Mount it on the bracket, and make one clean wrap around both the bracket and the coolant bottle with the tape.
Thats it! A good coat of paint will make it look even better!
