I’m rebuilding my stock turbo on my 98 eclipse gst and on all the videos I’ve watched they show themselves removing a snap ring before pulling out the bearing. I’m confused by this because I don’t see a snap ring on my turbo and I can’t just pull out the bearing. The one photo shows where the snap ring should be, the other is of the serial number. (I know it’s a shitty photo so if you need clarification just ask.)
The screenshot of the guy holding the snap ring is what I’m expecting to see.

It looks like the snap ring is in the hole in the picture but appears that at least one end with the hole for the snap ring pliers has broken off.
I got it out, this is what’s the snap ring looked like.

Different style of retaining ring. Basically does the same thing tho. Probably not the correct thickness for the groove the oem clip goes in so you probably want to use a oem style one when you rebuild it unless the 2g turbos came with that. I've not rebuilt a 2g before so hopefully someone else can chime in

Everything is set up, when I go to put in the snap ring that came with the rebuild kit it seems to be too small. Should I expand the new snap ring by hand, use the old one, or if someone could give me the part number to buy a new one.

I have a friend that works at a performance shop that can have it balanced.

What was the rebuild kit advertised as fitting? If you got it from fleabay or the scamazon they like to claim they fit everything so you have to be careful to make sure it actually is intended for your car/turbo

https://www.ebay.com/itm/333730706251 I did end up getting it from ebay because I couldn't find one elsewhere. All the parts have fit perfectly so far. This is literally the last piece in rebuilding it. It's stated that this rebuild kit is for the turbo in my car. If you know about another rebuild kit that is for my turbo could please give the link.

I'm not familiar enough with the t25 to know how many other turbos are the same. The listing doesn't seem to cover too many. I've seen them say they cover 13b to 20g and theres much different parts between those. But hopefully someone more knowledgeable can chime in.

If I'm not mistaken the T25 needs to be balanced on a VSR balancer as a complete unit, make sure the shop has one, usually makes them not worth repairing.
