Hi

Im having a friend put on a recently purchased 6 bolt motor and he noticed some differences between the cam angle sensors on both motors. I know that there are differences between the 1g and 2g cam angle sensors but how about between two 1g 6 bolt motors. I checked the motor I bought and it was a 1g based on the shape of the oil pan plus I counted the bolt holes where the flywheel attaches to. Are they interchangable? Can I just use the cam angle sensor on my new motor and plug it in the car? If I have to do anything to make the swap work any input will be appreciated. I have a 92 tsi awd and it also has the 6 bolt motor just by checking the oil pan. Thanks

I have the 89-90 on my rebuilt motor and the 91-92 on the old motor. so are they just plug and play? what do I need to get the 89-90 version working on my 92 talon?

do you guys have a link to some resource on how to remove and install the cam angle sensor?
 
To remove:
1. Remove the 2 nuts holding it on.
2. Unplug harness from CAS.
3. Slide off studs.

To install:
1. Set engine to TDC. Do this by rotating the crank pulley CLOCKWISE until the cam gear timing marks are lined up. You can check if the engine is at TDC by pulling out a spark plug in either cylinder 1 or 4. Then stick something long and skinny down into the cylinder to feel where the top of the piston is at. Most likely the object won't go down very far at all, which will tell you that the engine is at TDC.
2. Go to the link I posted in post #2 and scroll about 3/4 down the page. You should see two CAS images side by side, one lined up 180* out and one lined up correctly. Make sure the CAS is lined up correctly.
3. Slide onto studs.
4. Put harness clip on as well as the two nuts, and tighten them down.
5. Start car and let it get to operating temperature.
6. Follow this VFAQ on how to set base timing for a 1g:
