I have a 1990 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS 2.0L non-turbo automatic.
I recently started experiencing weird stuff while driving the car. My idle was dropping to 500 and the car stalled on me a few times while at a stop. The acceleration felt off too. I got it diagnosed at a trusted mechanic. He said I needed to replace the throttle body and the fuel injectors. Unfortunately he can only use OEM parts and couldn’t find anything so I’m open to any suggestions.

Any codes?
Replace throttle body? No. Unlikely. Given driveability and idle are affected I would start by checking vacuum/leaks and check mechanical timing. NOT ignition timing.

Your current fuel injectors can be removed and sent to be cleaned and flow tested, if one or more is actually bad (based on the throttle body idea it sounds more like he’s taking wild guesses and either doesn’t want to mess with it or just wants to throw random parts at it) theyre easy to find. I will say if for whatever reason you would be unable to find 1 or more replacement stock 240cv injectors the 275cc from the sohc 4g64 found in stuff like Galants and 2g Eclipse spyders are close enough to where the ecu will compensate no issue and you won’t notice a difference in the world, that I can guarantee you from my non turbo days. Plus they utilize the same o rings and insulators so they’re a direct change over.
